Saba Rock, The Bitter End - day 6 of 10

We spent two nights at Leverick Bay (and the days between) though I have no recollection of doing anything after the Pirate show. I know we got ice and re-provisioned, and Todd went diving one day but I don't recall leaving the boat the whole time. On the afternoon of the 23rd we pulled up anchor (figuratively speaking) and moved to the other end of the harbor to tie up in front of the Bitter End Yacht Club. Something about Todd and Kelly visiting the scene of the crime? Todd being drunk enough to propose...something along those lines.

We took the "Little Piggie" in to the Saba Rock Bar, nuzzled right up to the other squealers and tied up. Saba Rock is a Cay (small island) that is just under 1 acre at low tide. It's about the size of your kitchen table at high tide. It was absolutely vital that we get there. It was Bushwhacker time.

What is that? Another Pusser's?
Nah, I guess it's just Dophra Wifrey

I got several nice compliments on my shirt in this bar. All from men.

This picture is of the Crawl Pub. Last year when this crew was here there was a wild iguana that had his run of the bar and would crawl around the legs of the patrons. I think his name was Carlos. Apparently he was a sucker for maraschino cherries and would take them from you. Steve and I went there especially to see if he was around, but the bar maid said that he had not been around for days.

While we were wandering around at Saba Rock, we saw a sign that said something like "Come wrestle a Tarpon at 5:00 pm". Apparently they had a Tarpon rasslin' show later. It was about 4:15 and I don't remember why (time for Wapner, time for Wapner) but we had to go back to the boat for something. But we high-tailed it right back for the fish rasslin'. In case you don't know, Tarpon can get very large:

When we left there wasn't a fish to be seen anywhere. When we got back at 5 this was what we saw:

The deal is that every day at 5 pm, they feed the fish off the bar. It's amazing how these guys know what time it is. One of the cooks (I assume) brings out a bucket of old fish parts and starts throwing them in the water. The fish are so smart that you can throw the stuff way out there, and they will charge off after it before it even hits the water. Basically it goes from this:

To this:
In about 1 second. The "Wrestling" part was they give you a long strip of fish skin and you dangled it in the water. I liked to call it "Fish Rodeo" myself; see if you can hang on for 8 seconds!

Nothing like a little rum to put a nice glow on!

But alas, it was time to head back to the boat.
